About Us

Since our maiden issue in October 1980, Home Journal has been the leading design and lifestyle magazine in Hong Kong. With over 35 years in the market, our bilingual (English and Chinese) monthly publication has long served as a trusted resource for both designers and homeowners. Whether your style is refined or relaxed, Home Journal’s editors are hard at work to provide a dossier on the latest in design and lifestyle, from interiors inspiration to travel ideas.

Apart from the monthly magazine, we also publish two annual titles – Home Solutions and Home Journal Buyer’s Guide. The former is a decoration and renovation bible released every summer, while the latter is a comprehensive directory of the best sources for the home published at the end of each year.

EDITORIAL TEAM

Emily Leung, Editor

Hong Kong-born and London-raised, Emily is a lifestyle editor who previously served as Deputy Editor at Home Journal and Senior Editor at Hong Kong Tatler. Passionate about art and design, people and travel, Emily is a Bachelor of Laws degree holder. She is also an interiors and event stylist who co-founded an online retail store and boutique events company to satisfy a niche in the market for children’s soirees. Her favourite role is the proud mother of three young boys.

Mercedes Hutton, Deputy Editor

Mercedes was born in England, raised in rural Wales and lived in Paris before laying her hat in Hong Kong. She has written for various publications internationally on myriad subjects, but art, design and travel lie closest to her heart. When not exploring all that her hometown has to offer she can be found somewhere further afield – often a little lost – in search of excellent vegetarian food and a stunning spot to sit and read. Leanne Mirandilla, Features & Online Editor

Leanne is a writer and editor who made their start on HK Magazine‘s arts and culture beat before eventually landing at Home Journal. They manage the magazine’s website and various social media channels in addition to contributing to its print edition. Their work has also been featured in Hong Kong Tatler and Forbes Travel Guide. Nikey Cheng, Associate Editor

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Nikey is fluent in Chinese, Mandarin and English. She translates all of Home Journal‘s features, and also serves as its market editor – finding beautiful products for the magazine’s News and Shopping sections.
