This is a great new addition to my neighbourhood. A very considered place in every aspect: food, sake selection and interior design. The menu is original and prepared using simple Japanese cooking techniques, the sake is natural, and the design is unfussy and straightforward, which is quite refreshing in a city that at times feels overly themed.

Lin Heung Kui

Just a short walk from home, this restaurant’s unassuming entrance opens up into a huge dining space. It’s somewhere I like to take friends who are visiting town. I love the vibe and the dim sum in bamboo baskets being wheeled around on huge trolleys. It’s a true slice of Hong Kong, and that’s why I love it.

Everyday’s Good

I love this little shop on the first floor of an old walk-up building. They have a collection of ceramics, wooden products and glassware that are made by artisans from Japan and further afield.

Lee Kung Man

Lee Kung Man Knitting Factory is one of Hong Kong’s oldest private clothing companies. I love their white tees. Their shop is stacked full and their boxes have possibly the best old-school packaging and logo design in town.

Koshing Street

There are several galleries in my neighbourhood, but personally I get my visual stimulation from watching the action on the streets where I live. The dried seafood and medicinal shops are always bustling—people are always running around, and dried seafood, herbs and some decidedly questionable products are sold and displayed everywhere. I never tire of it!

Great vintage sneakers, clothing and accessories store. But it’s all about the sneakers for me, which are dead stock, so there’s some rare stuff here. It’s limited often to one size or even one pair!

The Music Room at Potato Head Hong Kong

This discreet listening space for audiophiles at Potato Head Hong Kong is my happy place. The room is simply beautiful and designed to help you enjoy and appreciate music, from the record collection to the vintage JBL speakers. It’s also where you can find the most diverse and exciting music gigs and DJs in town, including our Eat Ethio, Ethio Jazz DJ set which happens once a month on Sundays.
